Contractors & Construction

Built around materials, retainage and project draws.

Materials and crews get paid before a draw is ever released, and retainage holds back part of what’s earned until the job is done. Truidian helps contractors line up the providers built around that gap.

The realities

What makes construction different.

  • Materials and labor are paid before draws arrive.

Crews, materials and subcontractors often need to be paid before a project draw or milestone payment is released.

  • Retainage ties up real cash.

General contractors and owners commonly hold back a percentage of each payment until project completion, delaying access to earned revenue.

  • Equipment is a major capital need.

Heavy equipment, vehicles and tools represent some of the largest asset purchases a contractor makes.

  • Bonding affects which jobs you can take.

Bid, performance and payment bonds are often required for larger projects, and bonding capacity can limit growth independent of cash flow.

  • Change orders and delays strain cash flow.

Scope changes and weather or permitting delays extend timelines without always adjusting payment schedules at the same pace.

  • Subcontractor payments are time-sensitive.

Paying subs promptly affects a contractor’s ability to retain reliable crews for future work.

FAQ

Common questions from contractors.

Is Truidian a construction lender or bonding company?

No. Truidian is a business solutions company. Truidian helps contractors identify and connect with third-party funding, factoring, equipment and bonding-related providers.

Can Truidian help with cash tied up in retainage?

Truidian can help identify participating providers whose factoring or working-capital programs are built around progress billings and retainage. Terms and eligibility are set by the provider.

Can Truidian help finance heavy equipment?

Yes. Truidian can help identify participating equipment financing providers for heavy equipment, vehicles and tools.

How do I get cash out of retainage before a project closes out?

Retainage itself generally isn’t released early — it’s held until project completion per contract terms. Some factoring providers will advance against the billed, non-retained portion of a draw in the meantime, which is the more common way contractors bridge that gap.

Can a new contractor get bonded?

It depends on the surety and the size of bond requested. Newer contractors are typically evaluated on financial statements, work history and personal credit, and may qualify for smaller bonds before larger ones.

What credit score do I need for equipment financing?

There’s no single threshold — it varies by provider and by the equipment’s age and value. Some providers place more weight on time in business and cash flow than on credit score alone.

What does it cost to work with Truidian?

Truidian may receive compensation from participating providers. If any fee would be payable directly by your business, it will be disclosed before you engage.
